German automaker Volkswagen wants to increase its output in China and is considering buying a factory either from Fiat of Italy or from a Chinese firm, Handelsblatt cited VW as saying today.
"We are running at full capacity," meaning the company "definitely" has to increase capacity, the business daily quoted the head of Volkswagen China, Winfried Vahland, as saying.
Volkswagen aims to sell 1 million cars in China this year and in 2009 for the country to be its biggest market ahead of Germany. It plans to invest 750 million euros there every year until 2010.
